Quarantine Review and Delivery Guide

A Simple Step-by-Step Process for College Staff and Students

Introduction

Barracuda Networks’ bulk email detection system helps protect your college email account by quarantining suspicious or potentially unwanted emails. However, sometimes legitimate emails may be mistakenly blocked. Regularly reviewing your quarantined emails ensures you don’t miss important messages. This article explains how you can easily review and deliver emails quarantined by Barracuda, using your college credentials.

Accessing Barracuda Quarantine

Follow these steps to log in and access your quarantined emails:

  1. Go to the Barracuda login page: Open your web browser and navigate to ess.barracudanetworks.com.

  1. Enter your college email address: Type your full college email address (for example, [email protected]) into the username field.
  2. Enter your password: Input the password associated with your college email account.
  3. Complete multi-factor authentication (MFA): Follow the on-screen instructions to verify your identity. This usually involves a code sent to your phone or an authentication app.

Browsing Quarantined Emails

Once logged in, you will see the Barracuda user interface.

  1. Navigate to the Action Taken and select “Quarantine”.
  2. Filter by date: The system automatically displays emails quarantined within the last 2 days. You can also adjust the date range using the filter options if needed.
  3. Browse the list: Scroll through the emails to see sender information, subject lines, and dates.

Reviewing and Identifying Mistakenly Blocked Emails

To ensure you don’t miss any important messages, carefully review your quarantined emails. Here are some tips to help you spot legitimate emails (false positives) that may have been blocked by mistake:

  • Check the sender: Look for emails from people or organizations you recognize, such as colleagues, professors, or official college departments.
  • Review the subject line: Legitimate emails often have relevant subject lines related to your courses, work, or activities.
  • Preview the message: Many quarantine systems let you preview the email’s content. Use this feature to check if the message seems authentic.

Delivering Selected Emails

If you find an email that was blocked by mistake, you can deliver it to your inbox:

  1. Select the email: Click the checkbox next to the email you want to release.
  2. Look for a button “Deliver”, click it to release the email.
  3. Check your inbox: The released email should now appear in your regular college email inbox.
