Managing Quarantine Notification Settings

Step-by-Step Guide for Users at ess.barracudanetworks.com

Overview

Email Gateway Defense is a system designed to protect your college email account from spam, phishing, and other unwanted messages. One of its useful features is the Quarantine Notification, which provides regular email reports about messages held in quarantine for your review. These notifications enable you to release, allow, or block emails directly from your inbox.

By default, your college IT department has set the system to send a daily Quarantine Notification email at noon. However, you can customize these settings to turn off notifications or adjust the days and times you receive them.

How to Access Your Quarantine Notification Settings

  1. Go to the Email Gateway Portal:
  2. Visit ess.barracudanetworks.com in your web browser.

  1. Log In:
  2. Enter your college email address.
  3. Type your password.
  4. Complete Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) as prompted.
  5. Navigate to Settings:
  6. Once logged in, locate the settings cog (gear icon) on the left panel and click it.
  7. Find Quarantine Notification Options:
  8. Click on the "Quarantine Notification" section.

Customizing Your Quarantine Notification

Within the Quarantine Notification settings, you have two main options:

  • Turn Off Notifications: Select the "Never" option to stop receiving quarantine reports altogether.
  • Schedule Notifications: Choose the "Scheduled" option and select your preferred days and times to receive notifications. By default, notifications are sent once daily at noon, but you can modify this schedule as needed.

Important Notes

  • If you turn off notifications, you will not receive any quarantine emails. To check quarantined messages, you must log in to the portal manually.
  • Personal settings will override IT’s default schedule if you make changes.
  • If you encounter any issues logging in or adjusting your settings, contact your college IT support for help.
